Edward V. Franke House
507 East State Street
Mason City, Iowa 50401-3537

Barry Byrne, 1917

Franke was the president of the Central Trust Bank. His residence is the only house in Rock Glen completely designed by Barry Byrne. Its smooth stucco, irregular fenestration and asymmetrical massing set it apart from the other Prairie School designs.

Alterations have been made: bedrooms over the solarium/garage wing and an arbor south of the garage; the garage door has also been widened.
