14 April 2012
It is thirteen months since my last post in these virtual pages. Though my posting here has become something beyond sporadic, it was not helped by software troubles of some months ago that rendered my web authoring program, Adobe GoLive, unusable on my primary computer. I have found a workaround, and am back in business.

Even as technology causes grief, it also brings us closer in ways unimagineable before. The PST page on Facebook now has over 200 members, and serves as a place of lively interaction—in marked contrast to this page—where photos are posted, buildings identified, and interests shared. I hope you’ll pay it a visit.

It is humbling to me that generous individuals continue to share materials with me, even when it appears that little is happening around here. I am working through the backlog. I won’t promise that I’ll post again here before this time next year, but I will be working behind the scenes to improve what many of you have graciously told me is a valuable resource.

It’s not too soon to plan your summer trips! Mason City’s Wright on the Park is hosting a Cinco de Mayo fundraiser in the Park Inn Hotel’s ballroom.

On Saturday 2 June, the Frank Lloyd Wright Trust sponsors Walk Wright In, an architectural housewalk in Oak Park. The Fricke, Balch, Martin, Sharp, Simmons, Skiff, Schwerin, Griess, and Erskine houses will be open, as will be Unity Temple and the FLW Home and Studio.

The 2012 Wright and Like tour will be in Spring Green. The PrairieMod website has a thorough description of the weekend, which includes an evening at Taliesin on 8 June.

Two weeks later, on 23 June, the Walter Burley Griffin Society of America meets in Minneapolis for its 13th annual meeting. The program focuses on the work of Purcell & Elmslie and includes a visit to the Elmer L. Anderson Library of the University of Minnesota and lectures by Barbara Bezat, Paul Kruty, and Richard Kronick. Tours will visit the Powers and Purcell-Cutts houses, as well as the Stewart Memorial Church and a residence by Minneapolis architect Kirby T. Snyder. An optional tour on the 24th travels to Owatonna to see works by Louis Sullivan, Purcell & Elmslie, Edwin Lundie and Frank Gehry. Registration deadline is 15 May; click on the WBG Society link for a registration form.

As always, I welcome your comments about this site or any Prairie School building.
